Blackheads can be caused by not cleaning your skin properly, which allows dead skin cells to accumulate in your pores.  The dead skin cells clog the opening to the pore and results in built up oil.  Other things that can cause clocked pores include wearing too much makeup, overuse of moisturizers, sunscreens and foundations.

Make sure to wash your face twice a day.  It’s important to remove make up before going to bed at night.  Be sure to wash your face with a good cleanser.  Next, put on and light non-oil based moisturizer or lotion.  By keeping your face clean, you give your skin less chance to build up dirt or oil that clogs up the pores.

You can find nose strips at any drugstore that help remove blackheads.  You simply moisten the strip and smooth it over your nose.  When the strip dries, the glue adheres to the blackhead so that when you pull it off the blackheads are pulled out.  You can also try some homemade remedies that have been shown to be effective.

Try this homemade scrub to help get rid of blackheads.

Honey-Wheat Germ Scrub Mask (to get rid oily skin of blackheads)

2 T. honey
2 T. wheat germ (NOT toasted)

Heat honey and slightly; add wheat germ. Mix thoroughly. Apply to face and rub gently over affected areas for 3 to 4 minutes. After rubbing, leave mixture on face for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with 30 to 40 splashes of very warm water. Use for a week to 10 days. You can use it less if skin improves rapidly.

To Loosen and Cleanse Blackheads

Make a paste of oatmeal, honey and egg white. Apply to the skin, massage for 10 minutes then rinse with tepid (room temperature) water.

Give the methods above a try they should work for you.  If you have tried several methods at home to remove blackheads and find that you are having minimal or no results, you may want to consult a dermatologist for advice.
